When I trained as a nurse many years ago, I was expected to have an understanding of the disease process; rakes of terminology, technical terms associated with diagnostic procedures, surgery, medicine, drugs, and much more.
One of these terms was HOMEOSTASIS.
For the past 7 years, since I have been looking at health from a wellness perspective, rather than dealing with “DIS-EASE” or “illness”, Homeostasis has become an ever-increasing focus of my work on my own health, and with that of my family, friends and many hundreds of clients.
Let’s take a look at the 5 fundamentals that make up Homeostasis in the body.

Each cell is reliant on a balance of all 5 elements and it is the imbalance or altered “Homeostasis” that is at the root of illness, ageing and ultimately death. So what system of the body is mostly responsible for homeostasis? What’s the common denominator?
It’s the Cardiovascular System.
It’s a bit like a car. The engine has to be in good condition for efficiency, smooth running, and longevity of the vehicle. (This is why we spend money on servicing our cars to avoid breaking down and to get as much mileage as we can.)
Now, it is MY belief that we need to invest in a similar way to the maintenance of the engine of our “Cardiovascular System”: the HEART, which beats an estimated 3.5 Million Times in a life-time, and the CIRCULATION.
What’s clear here, is that HEART DISEASE kills more men women in the western world than Cancer, Diabetes, Respiratory Disease and Accidents PUT TOGETHER. It’s also true that we can never predict who is at risk from just looking at a person! (Unless you do the correct “diagnostics”.) Sadly, we all will know of apparently “fit and “healthy” people dying of a HEART ATTACK with no previous symptoms.
Well this may be because the body’s engine (heart) and cardiovascular (exhaust) system is clogged, out of condition, or over stressed.
Ageing, poor diet, lack of exercise, and conversely; inadequate nutrients to support exercise recovery, plus stress, disease, obesity, may all lead to high blood pressure, high cholesterol, arteriosclerosis, inflammation, the four major risk factors of HEART DISEASE or STROKE.
